It's just my Apinion, but I believe we need to look into the current medical practices as well as over all societal belief of in vitro/asexual reproduction.

As with all great discoveries, there is a need for extreme responsibility. Atomic power, Rocketry, unmanned flying machines, cars that can drive themselves, all started with someone who wanted to make a profound impact in our world. At the same time there is someone looking over their shoulder, most likely with the checkbook, who has a much more personal interest in these technologies. May it be good or bad, i can not say in each case. As we know, there are no checks and balances when it comes to someone else spending their own dime.

Now although all my examples were far from the medical field, one can still see how any technology can be used indiscriminately for both good and evil. I'm sure all the people receiving electricity from a nucular power plant and all the people incinerated in Hiroshima and Nagasaki can a-test to that.

In vitro fertilization was an ultimate break-through for women and families who could not other wise have children. One can ask themselves, how can there anything be wrong with having a baby. They(babies) have that innate defence mechanism no "human being" can resist while looking upon them, loving them cause they are so dang cute. But when those "human beings" have the ability to close their eyes, to protect themselves from the on slot of cuteness, analytical, logical, one could dare say COLD minds could differ in that opinion.

Is there anything right about teen pregnancy, pregnancy among prostitutes, Drug addicts, homeless, the mentally insain or incapable? I am not one to say over all what is right or wrong, but I do say, in some instances an analytical, logical, COLD mind could say it was wrong to bring that life into this world.

With that being said, having a child under some circumstances may not be the right thing, then I feel in vitro fertilization needs to be regulated in some way. I'm not saying we need a government oversight committee to look into each case, but possibly, an agreement by the sperm donor prior to implantation?

Should all responsibility of the man go to the way side once the playboy is put down and the plastic cup is placed in the little door way?

I don't think so, especially if there is a special connection between the man and the women. Even if there isn't a special connection, one would think that male would want to know their DNA may have the opportunity to grow and thrive in a positive living environment. I'm not saying whether Sulieman's octuplets is good or bad, there are enough people talking about that, I'm just saying that we need some checks and balances on in vitro fertilization. It seems to me that having the male sperm donors take more responsibility over their DNA would be an easy way to do so.

In fact, wouldn't that be morally right? It's simply my Apinion for the day.

San Francisco to Long Beach

Smiles were still on my face this morning at 6am as I started my day.(What a great evening) Showering and finishing up some packing took some time but Hugh and I hit the road around 8:30, not the 7:32 we had planned. Today is the 10th and over the next 17 days I have decided to traverse the country not once but twice. Honestly I do not believe i will need to see the inside of a car for months after this.

As for today we drove down the 5, continued driving down the 5, and kept going down the 5. I have no problem with the length of the drive but my god, the smell of the cattle ranches is beyond unbearable. If cow dung is so good for fertilizer, why can't they remove the shit at a faster pace so the thousands of travelers need not be worn down with the offensiveness. I do believe many other have had similar thoughts but then again, when you have slaughter houses, they have always been notorious for have much greater unpleasantness than just the smell.

Well that issue is not quite something i want to tackle this nor even tomorrow evening. Seeing Stiffy and Stiffette was great. Dinner at the Dublinder was amazing even though nothing I ate or drank had anything to do with the Irish motif. Bottle of Bud, a shot of fernet, and a dozen hot wings..... my stomach is going to love me tomorrow. :) One quick question, why does the water in LA from the tap have to taste like utter backwash. I know I have been spoiled to live in Arcata and San Francisco, but honestly how does anyone handle it. One could simply say the scent of the 5 is immersed into every drop....

My eyes are weak from a less than average number of hours last night and 6 hours in the car. Tomorrow we will be driving even greater distances, New Mexico here we come. Thanks to the Petermans for putting us up!
